If you’re in manufacturing and your business is getting ready for the holiday season, grant funding can help to alleviate the financial burden of a busy season. Whether you’re looking to hire more staff to increase production, or train your employees on new production methods or certifications, small business grants are there to help. We’ve collected a list of manufacturing grants that are open in the last quarter (October to December) of 2022.
To qualify for manufacturing grants, you must operate a manufacturing business. Each grant program has its own definition of what a manufacturing business is, so be sure to check the eligibility criteria before you apply. - Apprenticeships Program – Career Launcher: provides support to help employers in the construction and manufacturing sectors hire first-year apprentices.

- CLAC Apprenticeship Support Program: provides funding to help small businesses hire first-year apprentices in one of 39 Red Seal trades.

- Canadian Tooling & Machining Association – Career-Ready: provides businesses with the opportunity to hire a student, apprentice, or recent graduate and offer hands-on training.

- Empowering Futures Student Work Placement Program (SWPP): offers a subsidy to employers who create a work-integrated learning opportunities in electricity.

- Food Processing Student Work Placement Program (SWPP): offers a wage subsidy to food and beverage employers seeking student talent.

- Industry Commercialization Associates Program – Alberta Innovates: offers a wage subsidy in the advanced for-profit technology-oriented sector.

- Small Business Recovery (SBR) Consulting Rebate: provides funding toward third-party consultant projects that offer the professional expertise to regain and sustain business.

- WILWorks Student Work Placement Program (SWPP): provides salary subsidies to employers who hire full- or part-time post-secondary students in manufacturing-related industries.

Before you apply for these grants, you should pay close attention to the start dates. Some hiring grants are open for new hires that already started, while others may be for new hires that haven’t yet started. Although the grant is open now, you may not receive the funding in this quarter, so be on the lookout for start dates that match what your business needs.
